An asteroid flying near Earth today at a distance of 116 thousand km without danger

Today, Tuesday, the first of September 2020, the flight of the asteroid 2011 ES4 is observed through the Earth-Moon system at a distance of only about 116 thousand kilometers from our planet, but there is no risk of collision, and the asteroid will be faint and invisible to the naked eye.

The Jeddah Astronomical Society revealed, in a report, that the asteroid ES4 was discovered on the second of March 2011, with a diameter of 30 meters, and for comparison it is the same size as the Chelyabinsk meteorite in 2013, which broke windows and destroyed parts of buildings in six Russian cities when it exploded in  The atmosphere is east of the Urals.

The report pointed out that asteroids are rocky bodies of remnants that formed our solar system about 4.5 billion years ago, and it is believed that millions of them exist, most of them in the belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, and historically a rock with a diameter of 40 meters caused the largest collision with Earth in modern history when it exploded in the Tunguska sky in  Siberia 1908.

Observing the movement of the asteroid is an excellent opportunity to test international capabilities to detect and track near-Earth objects and assess our ability to respond together to any real threat to any asteroid in the future.

In general, scientists take advantage of such opportunities to learn more about asteroids, such as the nature of their formation. These objects, such as the time machine, keep many secrets of the period of the formation of the solar system, and it can tell us more about the origin of our planet.
