Egypt and Sudan stressed the importance of continuing to seek serious negotiations under the auspices of the African Union on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, leading to a binding legal agreement that achieves the interests of the three countries, while calling on Ethiopia to actively engage in the negotiations as soon as possible.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Sudan and Egypt stressed the importance of continuing to seek serious negotiations under the auspices of the presidency of the African Union on the Renaissance Dam, so that this leads to a binding legal agreement that achieves the interests of the three countries, while calling on the Ethiopian side to actively engage in these negotiations as soon as possible.
They affirmed the continuation of the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields, based on the eternal ties that bind the two countries, the historical relations and the unity of the path and destiny between the peoples of the Nile Valley.
A joint statement following the meeting of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Sudanese Foreign Minister-designate Ali Al-Sadiq on the sidelines of the Arab League Council meeting said that the two ministers stressed the continuation of coordination between the two brotherly countries regarding the challenges they face, and the importance of coordinating their positions on regional and international issues of common interest.
The Egyptian and Sudanese sides also agreed on the importance of preserving Sudan's unity, integrity and sovereignty over its lands, with an emphasis on supporting the ongoing efforts aimed at achieving sustainable stability in the country.
