The role of the Supreme Council of Universities
He added, during a telephone interview on the "Egypt Can" program broadcast on DMC: New education systems are being followed up so that our graduates can keep pace with what is happening in the world.
He pointed out that the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities on the academic hours system does not require the approval of the House of Representatives, commenting: "The ball is currently in the court of the Supreme Council of Universities to approve the credit hours system."
The number of hours for students of the Faculty of Engineering
He pointed out: "The College of Engineering, for example, in order for the student to graduate must obtain 182 hours without being restricted to the number of years of graduation, while the College of Commerce has a number of hours, the certificate can be obtained within 3 years or 3 and a half years."
Minimum credit hours
He explained: The academic years will be reviewed according to the approved hours or points, pointing out that obtaining the minimum number of hours is required to obtain the degree.
The beneficiary of the new education system
He stressed that the new system benefits new students and not those transferred to higher teams, and whoever joins the system will graduate according to it, and it is not permissible to switch between different educational systems.
The nature of the study in the new system
He pointed out that each college has a nature of study and a method for calculating the number of credit hours, and the differences between theoretical and practical include specializations as well.
How to calculate the number of credit hours
He pointed out: We have a large number of private universities and cooperation agreements with international universities, and the system must be unified between the two, pointing out that by calculating the credit hours, no student will graduate from the Faculty of Commerce before 3 years and engineering before 4 years.
Delayed application of the credit hour system
He continued, "We have been late in implementing the credit hour system from the world, but it is better to be late than not to come," noting: the credit hour system will push us to reconsider all curricula in all colleges.
Curriculum development
He continued: "We are looking at the curricula first-hand to keep pace with the world and the application of credit hours will be reviewed again, pointing out that most of the private colleges operate on a points or credit hour system and it must be circulated in all universities.
Expenses of the new education system
He stressed that the expenses are the same and will not increase in the approved points system because it is subject to international standards that guarantee the interest of the student, and we take into account the questions and concerns of parents and students and discuss them at the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities.
Date of application of the credit hour system
He stressed: We hope to start working with this system in the new academic year and to finish its procedures now through the Supreme Council of Universities, and the issuance of legislation from the Council of Ministers to do so.
