The Sheikh of Al-Azhar wishes the Pope a speedy recovery



Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery to the Pope of the Vatican, via the social networking site “Twitter”, saying: “I wish my dear brother Francis a speedy recovery and recovery to continue his dedication to humanity.”

And the Vatican announced that Pope Francis' condition is stable after undergoing intestinal surgery, which was carried out under general anesthesia.

And Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni announced that Pope Francis was admitted to hospital in Rome on Sunday afternoon for a "scheduled surgery" of the colon.

He added that the 84-year-old Pope suffers from "symptomatic diverticular stenosis" in the colon, which can cause recurrent stomach pain and bloating and affects the intestines, and that this is the first time that Pope Francis has been hospitalized since his election in 2013.
