Sudan: Increasing the water level in the Blue Nile



The water level of the Blue Nile in Singa city recorded a slight increase on Saturday morning, for the second day in a row, as it rose 8 centimeters from the level of yesterday, and today it reached 16.55 meters, compared to yesterday's level, which was 16.48 meters, and yesterday, which was 16.45 meters, according to the standards of Wad El-Eis in the Wilayat of Sennar.

Eng. Abdullah Mohamed Adam, Minister of Infrastructure in charge and Head of the Technical Committee for Autumn Emergency in Sennar State, told Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the increase came due to the heavy rains that witnessed in large parts of the state, which led to an increase in imports to the Blue Nile, as well as an increase in imports from the river. The drainage of the Sennar reservoir and the Al-Jazeera and Al-Manaqil canals is less than the situation before, but he confirmed that the situation is under control and that the autumn emergency committees, volunteers from Sinja and farmers are following up on the matter and working to strengthen bridges.

For his part, the Wali of Sennar Al-Mahi Muhammad Suleiman directed to continue monitoring and vigilance until mid-September, stressing that he directed the Ministry of Finance and the relevant ministries to provide all needs of fuel, financing and burlap to continue working with the same effectiveness until crossing to the stage of safety.
