An American pledge on the "Iran nuclear" .. and a comment on Russia's regime change

On Sunday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that his country and Israel are "committed" to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, despite their disagreement over the restoration of the nuclear agreement with Iran.

"When it comes to what is most important, we are in complete agreement, we are both committed and determined to ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon," Blinken said during a press conference with his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid in Jerusalem.

For his part, the US envoy to Iran, Robert Malley, said he was not confident that a nuclear deal between Western powers and Iran was imminent after 11 months of talks in Vienna.

Analysts say the failure of efforts to restore the deal could pose the risk of a regional war or lead to more harsh Western sanctions on Iran and a further increase in already high global oil prices due to the conflict in Ukraine.

Ukraine war

On the Ukraine war, Blinken said that the United States had no strategy for regime change in Russia, after President Joe Biden said that Russian President Vladimir Putin "cannot remain in power."

Blinken said during a visit to Jerusalem: "I think the President .. the White House made it clear last night that President Putin simply cannot be allowed to wage war or aggression against Ukraine or any other party."

"As you know, as you've heard from us over and over again, we don't have a strategy for regime change in Russia or anywhere else," he said.

"It's up to the people of the country involved in this case, and in each case. It's up to the Russian people," Blinken said.
