Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the conditions of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the resumption of negotiations between the two countries are not serious.
He added, in statements carried by the Russian "Sputnik" agency, his intention to visit Saudi Arabia and Bahrain on May 31.
He also touched on relations between Moscow and Beijing, noting that this does not mean establishing a military alliance against any party.
Russian presidential aide, Vladimir Medinsky, confirmed last Sunday that Russia is ready to continue talks with Ukraine that were frozen at the initiative of Kyiv.
He also explained in a television interview with the Belarusian ONT channel, that the ball is in Ukraine's court for the resumption of peace talks, noting that its freezing was entirely a Ukrainian initiative.
He also said that his country did not refuse to hold talks, including at the highest level, pointing out that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly, according to what was reported by the Russian "TASS" agency.
Negotiations falter
It is noteworthy that the two sides stressed during the past few days that the peace negotiations had stumbled since last April, while holding each other responsible for this.
But the past few weeks have not witnessed any significant contact between the two sides.
The last meeting between the Russian delegations, headed by Vladimir Medinsky, and the Ukrainian, headed by David Arakhamia, took place on April 22, according to what was confirmed by Russian official agencies at the time.
It is noteworthy that since the launch of the Russian operation on the territory of the western neighbor, on February 24, several rounds of talks have been held, either directly or via the Internet, but they did not reach understandings leading to a permanent armistice and foundations for a solution between the two countries.
