NASA publishes an amazing photo of a giant pink planet like it has never been seen before

A gas giant 57 light-years from Earth was stunned by NASA due to its color and size.  The agency published an amazing picture of the planet to show the beauty and strangeness of the universe.

The planet, known as GJ 504b, is four times the size of Jupiter, and given the size of Jupiter, the planet is 11 times the size of Earth.  It is fair to say that GJ 504b is truly a giant planet.

However, what makes the planet just as amazing for its size is its bright pink hue from the heat it generates.

Since it is still a relatively young planet, the gas has not yet had a chance to cool down, giving temperatures around 460 degrees Fahrenheit (237 degrees Celsius).

According to NASA, the age of the star system in which the planet GJ 504b is located, is about 160 million years, which means that the planet must be younger.

While this may sound ancient, our solar system is about 4.6 billion years old, which means that GJ 504b is still in its infancy.

"If humans could travel to this giant planet, we would see a world that is still glowing from the heat of its formation in a color that resembles a dark cherry blossom, a pale purple," NASA said on its website.

"Using infrared data from the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii, astronomers discovered this gas giant orbiting a bright star named GJ 504 in 2013.

And the US space agency continued, "The new world, called GJ 504b, revolves around the star GJ 504 of the G0 type, which are slightly warmer than the sun and are faintly visible to the naked eye in the constellation Virgo."

The star is located 57 light-years away, and researchers estimate that the system's age is about 160 million years, based on methods linking the star's color and rotation period with its age.
