The wreck of the sunken "ship of gold", carrying a billion dollar treasure, was found

Archaeologists have made an advanced step in the search for the wreck of the sunken "ship of gold", after they have accurately located the wreck of the ship carrying a treasure estimated at more than one billion US dollars.

And the scientists announced the discovery of an anchor in the sea, which is likely to be belonging to the ship, which helps to advance further in the search for the valuable treasure submerged under the water.

The Merchant Royal went missing at sea during high winds off Lands End in Cornwall, and was carrying a treasure now worth more than 1.1 billion pounds (1.43 billion US dollars).

Among the treasures that the ship carried, 100 thousand pounds of gold, 400 pieces of Mexican silver and nearly 500 thousand "eight pieces," or as it is also known as the Spanish dollar.

The Merchant Royal was dubbed the "Eldorado of the Seas", and it was carrying many artifacts and other coins when it sank.

The loss of the treasure made headlines at the time, as its value was estimated to be equivalent to a third of the government’s tax revenue in 1641. Several rescue teams have sought to recover the wreck over the years but have so far been unsuccessful.

Richard Larne of Shipwrecks UK said in 2014 that there was a "wonderful treasure" lurking at sea.

And in March of last year, scientists stumbled upon a stunning discovery linked to the "Merchant Royal", which is a ship's anchor.

Mark Milburn, co-founder of marine archeology in Cornwall, said he believed the anchor design matches the design the Merchant Royal was using.

He explained: "Any discovery like this is exciting, we know that the ship was carrying huge treasures, and it will be worth billions of dollars with today's money."

He added, "It is an anchor with a long leg engraved in an Admiralty style, the type suitable for a royal merchant. What I see in the pictures is the same design used in the seventeenth century and there is no mark engraved in it."

And he continued: "If there is a mark engraved, it is not belonging to the Merchant Royal because they did not have this procedure until 100 years after the ship sank."

He pointed out, "There will be people chasing the treasure. My main concern will be that people take it and not tell anyone. It is a well-known legend, people know that it still exists in deep water. Everyone will follow it, right?  Iron and metal pieces. All that will be on the sea floor is an anchor, cannons and treasure, as long as no one actually takes them. "

Despite the risks, Melbourne said he would dive into gold and see the possibility of an imminent breakout.

"I will go there to have a look, but we have to wait for the right conditions and because the conditions are so fickle, we have a very small chance. The site is exposed and we want the tide to be fine and a windless weekend. It's a dangerous diving trip, and it takes a lot."  Of equipment and most divers know this, so you should be an experienced professional diver. "
